History
The laboratory of immunology and cell biophysics was founded in 1967 as a sector of molecular bioenergy of the Laboratory of Biophysics and Isotopes of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (since 1973 the Institute of Photobiology of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR), academician of the NAS of Belarus, Dr. Sc., professor Sergei V. Konev.
In 1974, on the basis of the Laboratory of Biophysics and Isotopes of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, the Institute of Photobiology of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR was created (since 2004 – the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus"), in which the molecular bioenergy sector was transformed into a laboratory of biophysics and photobiology of membranes. The laboratory was headed by academician S.V. Konev. and led it from 1974 to 2005.
In 2004, the laboratory was renamed into a laboratory of biophysics and cell engineering. From 2005 to 2018, the laboratory was headed by Ph.D. Maria A. Martynova.
Since 2019, the laboratory is headed by Ph.D. Natalia G. Antonevich. Since February 2019, the Laboratory of biophysics and cell engineering has been transformed into the Laboratory of immunology and cell biophysics, where work began on the creation of biomedical cell products.
Since March 2023 the Laboratory of immunology and cell biophysics was renamed into the Laboratory of immunology and virology.
