Head of the laboratory

Viktar M. Abashkin
Ph.D.
Graduated from the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Physics, Belarusian State University. From 2016 to the present, he has been working at the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of NAS of Belarus. In 2023, he defended his thesis on the topic “Mechanisms of formation and influence on tumor cells of complexes of modified gold and silver nanoparticles with small interfering RNA” in the specialty 03.01.02 - biophysics. Since March 2024, he has held the position of head of the laboratory of nanobiotechnologies at the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Currently, 7 employees are working in the laboratory of nanotechnologies, including:
– head of the laboratory;
– senior researchers – 1;
– researchers – 2 (1 doctoral candidate and 1 Ph.D. student);
– junior research assistants – 3 (including 2 Ph.D. student).
2 persons have an academic degree: 1 doctor and 1 candidate of sciences.
In 2020, on the basis of the laboratory, the Republican Scientific Center for Nanomedicine was created. Doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Dmitry G. Shcherbin was appointed the head of the Center. The main goal is to improve the provision of medical care to the population through the development and implementation of new methods of treating diseases using nanoparticles and nanobiotechnologies.
